Robot Palletizers

Packaging

The automatic palletizing process encompasses all activities required to efficiently and systematically stack various types of products onto pallets or slip-sheets (unitizing) through automated means. This task is performed by advanced robotic systems specifically engineered for high efficiency and reliability, characteristics that have earned them widespread recognition within the industry. These robots are designed with a focus on compactness, safety, and ease of use, ensuring seamless integration into diverse operational environments. Skilled Group provides a range of robotic solutions, each supported by dependable software, to meet the demands of any palletizing application.

SCARA robot

The Skilled 504 SCARA robot is an electromechanical system featuring a four-axis, articulated SCARA (Selective Compliance Assembly Robot Arm) structure with a 360° working area. Introduced to the market in 1996, it has since been deployed in over 1,000 plants worldwide, demonstrating its reliability and adaptability across a broad range of industrial applications. Engineered for maximum flexibility, the Skilled 504 supports a customizable pick-up tool, making it suitable for handling a virtually unlimited variety of products such as cardboard boxes, bundles, heat-shrunk trays, bags, cans, and reels. This versatility has enabled it to effectively address complex end-of-line product handling challenges in diverse logistics environments. The robot’s intuitive yet powerful programming environment, developed entirely in Visual Basic by a team with over three decades of expertise in palletizing, allows for seamless personalization and integration. With a compact design suitable for narrow workspaces, a payload capacity of 120 kg including the gripper, and a throughput of up to 800 cycles per hour, the Skilled 504 is particularly well-suited for multi-line palletizing operations.

Articulated Robots

Articulated robots are robotic systems equipped with rotary joints, allowing for a wide range of movement and flexibility. These robots can vary in complexity, from simple two-jointed configurations to advanced systems featuring ten or more interconnected joints. Typically powered by electric motors, articulated robots are designed to perform a broad spectrum of tasks across various industries. Models such as the Skilled 304 and 603 exemplify the versatility of articulated robots, offering a large work envelope and the capability to handle multiple applications efficiently. Their ability to enhance operational productivity through increased speed and precision directly contributes to improved product quality. Furthermore, due to their widespread adoption and technological maturity, articulated robot systems have become more cost-effective, making them a highly accessible solution for businesses seeking automation.

Gantry Robots

A gantry robot is a type of automation system that features one or more manipulators mounted on an overhead structure, enabling movement along a horizontal plane. Often referred to as "Cartesian" or "linear" robots, these systems are typically large and well-suited for pick-and-place applications. They offer significant advantages, including expansive work areas and enhanced positioning accuracy. Additionally, skilled gantry robots are relatively easy to program due to their operation within a straightforward X, Y, Z coordinate framework.
